Description
Whether you are a physical therapist, fitness professional, athlete, or regular gym goer wanting to get more acclimated to barbell lifts, Fitness Within’s Barbell Workshop will deconstruct the Squat and Deadlift and provide systematic frameworks so you know EXACTLY how to perform both lifts safely. In these 2-hour workshops, you’ll learn how to optimize form and modify it based on anatomy and personal preference to help you build strength and reduce injury. These workshops will consist of instructional and practical segments, so you’ll receive all the hands-on coaching needed to apply it in real time! Our coaches will help you take the guesswork out of performing these lifts!
What we’ll cover!
1️⃣ Understand the physiology and mechanics of the squat and deadlift.
2️⃣ Learn about all the basic equipment needed to perform both lifts.
3️⃣ Learn the systematic frameworks to perform different variations of each lift(conventions vs. sumo, high bar vs. low bar), perfectly every time.
4️⃣ Learn how to change your setup to match your personal anatomical needs.
5️⃣ Learn how to identify common issues and how to correct them with proper cueing and tensioning.
6️⃣ Learn proper safety including how to correctly spot another lifter and bailing if necessary.
7️⃣ Learn all about optional equipment, when, and how to us them (lifting belt, knee sleeves, straps/wraps, and lifting shoes)
What to Bring
Proper weightlifting shoes are highly recommended. They increase stability, control, and consistency in all of the lifts. If you use a weightlifting belt, you are encouraged to bring them. You are encouraged to wear a 100% cotton shirt or avoid wearing any slick/moisture-wicking material if possible. Please wear knee-high socks or sweatpants/leggings to allow the barbell to contact the shins without causing abrasions.
